On 6th March 2024, our Climate Change & Sustainability working group organized a workshop on EBRD’s Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF).

The guest speakers of the workshop were Dr. Emad Hassan, GEFF Egypt II Team Leader, Hussein Bakry, Financing Expert, GEFF Egypt and Ahmed Youssef, Lead Engineer, GEFF Egypt.

The aim of this workshop is to allow our members to engage with experts about how their green economy projects can be eligible for financing by the private and local banks.

Workshop Highlights:
▪ The program currently offers its service to 7 banks in Egypt.
▪ The program consultant audits the projects to ensure that they align with the program’s and country policy guidelines.
▪ One of the main benefits of the program, is the cashback and the preferential interest rates.
▪ So far, GEFF has worked on 114 implemented projects with around 55 clients.
▪ The investments that are eligible for the program include Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Green Buildings, Circular Economy, Waste Management and Sustainable Land Management.
